MHISC enjoyed a huge turnout of industry leaders at the association’s Fall Meeting on  November 7 – 8 at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina.

Members gathered for a rollicking reception and delightful dinner at the beautiful outdoor Lookout Pavilion. Outstanding companies and individual professionals were honored at the Best in the Industry Awards.  The association raised money for the Political Action Committee with a golf tournament on the water at the beautiful Patriots Point Golf Club.

Key committees met to map out strategy for the industry’s future.  The Board of Directors voted to create a Local Government position to work for good zoning and fair treatment of the industry and its customers at the city and county level.

Best in the Industry awardees, selected by the membership at large included:

Service-Supplier of the Year – 21st Mortgage

Manufacturing Facility – Schult Homes of Richfield

Community – Otranto Acres

Salesperson of the Year – Johnny Hanna

Corporate Retail Center of the Year – Clayton Homes of North Charleston

Independent Retail Sales Center – Aiken Housing Center

The association presented the industry’s first-ever Continuing Education classes, giving members expert guidance on sales tax and site preparation issues.  Free CE classes are an MHISC member benefit.

The association’s key committees, the SC Dealer Roundtable, Modular Steering Committee, Membership, Image & Professionalism and Community Managers met to tackle governmental and marketing issues and talk about ways to grow the association.

Richey Massey won a thousand dollars at the Wednesday night event. Jerry Scalf won second prize and Michele Miller an employee at Schult Homes, Richfield was the third prize winner.

Bowers announced the 2019 Convention will be held at Omni Resort on Hilton Head Island.
