South Carolina law requires that manufactured homes be registered with both the state
and local governments. The state registration requirement is fulfilled when you apply for a title for a new home.
This is a mandatory step with any new or used home. To register for a title for your home, you will need to go to the local South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office. The County Auditor for the county where the home will be placed must also receive a copy of the application for Certificate of Title. Failure to do this is a misdemeanor.
