2008 MHISC Convention
Hundreds of members from across the southeast flocked to Hilton Head Island for MHISC's Annual Convention on July 17-20th. A few showers didn’t dampen the spirit of this convention as each day was packed full of fun events and great industry information.
Mike Anderson, Administrator of the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Board, showed members how retailers will be able to take advantage of the new Manufactured Housing Salesperson Apprentice License. A panel of South Carolina retailers, including Mitch Howard of Carolina Home Outlet, Mitch Gault of Kent-Gault Homes and Richard Bagwell of LUV Home in Greenville, let MHISC in on their secrets for making money in a down market.
The MHISC Annual Meeting was followed by the SC Modular Summit. Doug Green Director of South Carolina's Modular Program joined a panel of Hiller Spann of Adrian Homes, Bon Gardner of Manning Homes, and Todd Starnes of Brothers’ Housing to discuss the practical implementation of new modular sales licensing procedures in South Carolina.
Fun activities, such as our golf tournament, bingo and a kayaking tour of Hilton Head, kept members busy before enjoying three entertaining receptions, a delicious 41st Annual Gala and a high-energy late-night dance. A retrospective presentation during the Saturday evening dinner honored the children who have grown up going to the MHISC Annual Convention.

2007 Annual Convention Report
Hundreds of people from all across the southeast joined MHISC in celebrating its 40th Anniversary at the association’s annual convention in Hilton Head Island on July 19-22. The convention was full of useful information and fun events. Attendees enjoyed a blast from the past as MHISC took members back to where it all began in 1967.
A panel of South Carolina Manufactured Housing Board members answered some of the association’s toughest questions that are on everyone’s minds concerning the regulation of the manufactured home industry.
The annual meeting was followed by an informative Modular Summit. Thayer Long, Executive Director of the National Modular Housing Council in Washington, presented a presentation on the subtleties of marketing to modular customers. The Modular Summit also included a VIP panel Tim Watson of Haven Homes, Joe Manis of Manis Custom Builders, Dennis Jones of R-Anell Housing Group and Bon Gardner of Manning Homes. This panel gave members a preview of profitable trends of the modular industry in South Carolina in upcoming months and years.
A retrospective presentation during the Saturday evening 40th Anniversary Gala honored and paid tribute to the men and women who built the manufactured housing into the major industry it is today.
