LOCATION: MHISC is located at the corner of Gadsden and Laurel Streets in Columbia. The office is part of a two-block area on Gadsden sometimes called "Associaton Row". Our office is across the street from the Governor's Mansion and a few blocks from the SC Statehouse. Map
MISSION: To maximize opportunities for South Carolinians to enjoy the benefits of factory-built homes. MHISC accomplishes by: 1) creating a regulatory climate at the state and local level which allows the industry to thrive: 2) working for favorable laws which benefit member companies: 3) creating opportunities for marketing with-in the industry and with future customers.
ORGANIZATION: The association operates two divisions, the Manufactured Housing Institute of SC and the SC Modular Housing Institute. The association is an active member of the national Manufactured Housing Institute in Washington and the National Modular Housing Council.
MHISC has six local chapters: Beaufort, Charleston, Grand Strand, Midlands, Pee Dee and Upstate Chapters.
STAFF: The three-person MHISC staff brings 40 years of association management, legal and lobbying experience to the job of promoting the interests of the manufactured and modular housing industries in SC. The staffers are seasoned by years of serving with other associations, the government and in the legal field.

ü The least tangible membership benefit may be the most important. That is
MHISC constant work to represent the interests of the industry at all levels of
government (see below) and by working to boost the image of the industry with
the buying public.
GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATION: MHISC is at the Statehouse every day of the six month legislative session. SC officially recognizes the association as the representative of the manufactured and modular homes industries. State law gives MHISC its own seat on both the state agency SC Manufactured Housing Board as well as the government board that regulates the modular industry. MHISC has contacts in the state's 46 counties and works for favorable zoning and fair treatment with local government statewide.
MEETINGS: In addition to quarterly meetings of MHISC’s six chapters the association puts on two statewide meetings which are major industry events; drawing owners, managers and company representatives from across the state and region.
